Visa disputes are managed with one of two workflows: allocation or collaboration. Within those two workflows, there are four dispute categories: fraud, authorization, processing error, and consumer dispute. Within those categories, there are 24 dispute conditions.
The dispute condition is assigned by the issuer to help the merchant understand why the transaction is being disputed.
Also referred to as chargeback reason code. (Mastercard and Visa often use different terms to express the same concept. Visa uses the term “dispute condition”, but Mastercard uses “chargeback reason code” instead.)
