Visa manages disputes with two workflows: collaboration and allocation.

The reason code the issuer assigns to the dispute will determine which workflow will be used for resolution. The collaboration workflow is used to manage processing errors and consumer disputes.

Collaboration allows for detailed back-and-forth communication between issuers and merchants in order to reach the most accurate and compliant dispute resolution possible.
